Question 1

What are collagen peptides?

Accepted Answer

Collagen peptides contain the same exact set of amino acids and nutrients as collagen, but have undergone a process called hydrolysis to break them down into shorter chains of proteins called peptides. They are also referred to as hydrolyzed collagen or collagen hydrolysate. Generally speaking, collagen peptides can be dissolved in both hot or cold water and, because of the hydrolysis process, are broken down and digested more easily in your stomach. They also typically have a high bioavailability, which means they can be absorbed into the bloodstream more readily than regular collagen protein.

Question 2

Why should I be supplementing with collagen?

Accepted Answer

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. Up to 30% of all the protein in your body is collagen protein. Up to 70% of skin, hair, nails and nearly 100% of connective tissues are made from collagen. It literally holds you together, from the hairs on your head, to every inch of your skin, to your joint comfort and mobility. Collagen production naturally declines as we age, and it’s not being consumed in the standard modern diet. Supplementing can help support your body’s normal collagen production, so you can reap all the rewards of collagen.

Question 3

How long before I start seeing benefits from using collagen peptides?

Accepted Answer

Everyone is different, and will have a different experience when using the product. What matters most is consistency. Some of the benefits you may see include: support for healthy hair, skin, nails, joints and a healthy gut.†

Question 4

What’s the difference between vegetarian and regular collagen peptides?

Accepted Answer

While both formulas bring you benefits for your hair, skin, joints and gut†, Collagen Peptides and Vegetarian Collagen Peptides contain different ingredients. Collagen Peptides combines fermented eggshell membrane collagen and bovine collagen, which comes from non-GMO, grass-fed and pasture-raised cows. Vegetarian Collagen Peptides is made with fermented eggshell membrane collagen, but it doesn’t contain bovine collagen — so it is considered vegetarian. It also contains prebiotic fiber (called acacia fiber) and probiotics for added digestive support. This vegetarian-friendly collagen supplement offers you 10g of the Vegetarian Collagen Peptide, Prebiotic and Probiotic Blend per serving (one scoop).

Question 5

What is acacia fiber?

Accepted Answer

Acacia fiber is a beneficial soluble fiber with a clinically proven prebiotic effect. It comes from the sap of the acacia tree, which grows mainly in Africa and India. Many of the health benefits it’s traditionally known for are due to acacia being a prebiotic, which is a non-digestible fiber that acts as fuel for friendly bacteria. It can even increase the number of beneficial bacteria in your gut microbiome. And while some fiber can be hard to digest, acacia fiber is known to be gentler on the gut due to its slow fermentation rate within the gut.

Question 6

Is this collagen vegan?

Accepted Answer

No, as there is no such thing as vegan collagen. Is collagen vegetarian-friendly? Yes, it can be, as our Vegetarian Collagen Peptides is made with our proprietary fermented eggshell membrane collagen, so it is made from eggs. That means this collagen is vegetarian-friendly, as it does not use chicken meat or bones, marine or bovine collagen ingredients.

Question 7

What’s the difference between a collagen supplement and a “collagen booster”?

Accepted Answer

Vegetarian Collagen Peptides is a collagen supplement, not a collagen booster. That means it provides actual collagen from fermented eggshell membrane. There are many vegetarian “collagen boosters” on the market, which contain ingredients that are designed to naturally support your body’s collagen production – however, collagen boosters don’t provide actual collagen (or its benefits).

Question 8

What types of collagen does Vegetarian Collagen Peptides contain?

Accepted Answer

Vegetarian Collagen Peptides contains our proprietary fermented eggshell membrane collagen, which includes 9 types of collagen: types I, III, IV, V, VII, VIII, X, XII and XXII.
